This is an interview done to Claudio Parra, Jaivas’s keyboardist
1) When did you born? Which place?
I was born on September 14th, 1945 in Valparaiso city.

2) What about your family? Are you married?
I have 2 brothers, Eduardo and Gabriel. They are musicals too. I’m not married.
3)How many children do you have?
I don’t have children, because I’m not married.
4) Tell me about your musical beginnings
Well, I began thanks to my uncle “Moncho”. He taught me to play piano when I was seven years old. My aunt Gladys also taught me to play another musical instruments.
5) Where did you know to the others “Los Jaivas” members?
I knew to “Gato” in High School, at Guillermo Rivera School in Viña del Mar city. We were boys and we liked very much to go to cinema. In the UTFSM we knew to Mario Mutis, our bassist.
6) What musicals bands influenced your music?
They have been: Violeta Parra, Atahualpa Yupanqui, Béla Bartók, Ludwig van Beethoven, Pink Floyd, among others.

I like all the songs, but I like specially one. It is “La Poderosa Muerte”.
8) Would you like to go to Asia to make a new musical tour?
Of course. I would like anyway. And I think that the Asian people would like too.

9) Tell me about “Gato” Alquinta. What instruments did he play?
He didn’t use to play an instrument. He used to sing in the band.

No. He didn’t.

Actually, he liked Atahualpa Yupanqui, a Argentine musical.
